See how BNI meetings turn connections into opportunities.
What To Expect From Your First Visit
Your first BNI meeting is a chance to see how the chapter works, meet local business owners, and decide whether the group feels right for you.
As a visitor, you can expect:
- a warm welcome from local members
- the chance to meet professionals from a range of industries
- time before and after the meeting for informal networking
- a clearer understanding of how referrals and introductions are shared
- no pressure to make a decision on the spot
It is a simple way to get a feel for the chapter, the people in the room, and the opportunities that could come from being part of the network.
One of the most powerful referrals I’ve received came from a BNI member recommending me on social media. Nearly two years later, that recommendation led my ideal client straight to me — and they still book with me regularly today.
What I didn’t expect was the personal growth that came with being part of BNI South East London. I found mentors, trusted peers, and a support network that has helped me grow both personally and professionally. That support has played a big part in me becoming a multi award-winning business owner.

How To Get More Value From Your Visit
To get the most from your visit, it helps to come ready to talk clearly about your business and the kind of opportunities you are looking for.
A few simple things can make your first meeting even more valuable:
- bring business cards with you
- be ready to explain what your business does and who you help
- think about the kind of clients, introductions, or partnerships that would be useful to your business
- stay open to conversations about how you could support other businesses too
The more clearly members understand your business, the easier it becomes for them to spot useful opportunities and make the right introductions.
A 90-Minute Meeting Built For Business Growth
BNI meetings are designed to make good use of your time. Each one follows a clear structure, usually lasting around 90 minutes, so members can stay visible, build stronger connections, and keep opportunities moving.
A typical meeting includes:
- networking before the meeting to meet members and visitors informally
- business introductions so everyone can quickly explain who they are, what they do, and the kind of opportunities they are looking for
- member updates and referral opportunities shared during the meeting
- time afterwards to continue conversations, ask questions, and build stronger relationships
It is a format designed to keep meetings focused, productive, and useful for busy business owners.
One Seat Per Profession, Multiple Opportunities Across The Region
Each BNI chapter allows only one person from each profession, which means you are not competing for attention with several businesses offering the same service in the same room.
Instead, you become the go-to person for your profession within that chapter — making it easier for members to remember who to recommend when the right opportunity comes up. If one chapter already has someone in your profession, there may still be space for you in another BNI group across South East London.
Visit Before You Decide
You can visit a BNI chapter before deciding whether membership is right for you.
It gives you the chance to experience the structure, energy, and opportunities for yourself and decide whether BNI feels like the right fit for your business.
